Choc full of amazing vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, one can't really go past the tasty treat of a cup of hemp milk.
Made along the same principal of any 'nut' type milk, and occasionally found on your local supermarket shelves, our Raw Hemp Seed Milk recipe will have you coming back for more and more!
Commercially processed hemp milk tends to be a little on the sweet side for me, I prefer the wholesome nutty flavour of the hemp, without the syrupy sweetness. (Of course, if you have a sweet tooth like my husband I have added in an optional sweetener:) )
What do you need?
1/2 Cup Amuri Farms Raw Hemp Seeds (Hemp Hearts) -> you can find them here
2 Cups Water
1-2 Teaspoons Ground Vanilla Bean (or Extract)
1 Teaspoon Agave Syrup (Sweetener) ~ Optional
Cheesecloth ~ Optional, but will strain out any of the larger pieces for a smoother finish.
What do you do?
Throw everything in the blender and blend for 90 seconds or so. I used a Thermomix, but any good blender will do.
Use a mesh strainer (if you have) and lay across a large bowl or jug. Put the cheesecloth over that. (Quick Tip ~ I also used a large funnel, so as not to spill any!
Slowly pour the milk out of the blender giving the cheesecloth time to drain the liquid. You may have to give the cheese cloth a little squeeze to get all the liquid.
Repeat until all the liquid has been strained.
And viola! You're done. Enjoy!
The above recipe should make approximately 2-3 Cups (approx 6 serves)
